High‑quality printing and design that strengthen our customers’ packaging
A strong prepress and printing offer is essential for creating distinctive, high‑quality packaging that supports a customer’s brand. That is why Emballator in Ulricehamn continues to invest in printing expertise and modern equipment.
Reinhard Grote is a repro technician at Emballator’s printing house and a true specialist in his field. With a background as a typographer and printing expert, he helped establish the repro department in 1995 and has followed the development closely ever since.
“Being able to offer customers high‑quality, cost‑efficient print with accurate colour reproduction is incredibly important. It strengthens their brand and supports sales. Printing technology keeps developing, and Emballator has the courage to make the necessary investments. That’s why my job is so enjoyable,” says Reinhard, referring to the high‑tech six‑colour printing press installed a few years ago.
Flexible printing with strong visual impact
The six‑colour press handles most types of jobs—from standard CMYK to CMYK combined with one or two spot colours in a single run. This provides both high efficiency and consistent quality. The team can also carry out four‑colour separation of spot colours, when the colour spectrum allows, ensuring close alignment with the customer’s colour scale.
Printing white on metal is a known challenge. Reinhard explains that it can be difficult to match a graphic profile exactly, but the team has achieved strong, reliable results.
The fifth and sixth units of the press make it possible to create special effects through both spot colours and varnishes. Varnish, in particular, opens up many opportunities.
“By adding a glossy finish to the protective varnish, we can create a high‑gloss effect that customers really appreciate. We can also produce matte surfaces. With a partially printed matte varnish on top of glossy varnish, specific details stand out. The way light reflects across the surface creates stylish visual effects. With partial white printing, we can also control how coloured surfaces interact with the metal to achieve a natural metallic look. When customers involve our repro department early on, they get the best results.”
Expertise that supports creativity
Around 30 people work at Emballator’s printing house in Ulricehamn, operating across three shifts. Alongside the six‑colour press, the site also has a conventional two‑colour press and two varnish lines, allowing the team to offer a wide range of printing solutions. Many customers come from the paint industry, where strong design and reliable packaging are essential.
“Having knowledgeable salespeople and skilled colleagues in prepress and printing—who can guide customers, present options and take an idea all the way to a finished pack—is the key to success,” Reinhard concludes.
