”It’s what keeps us and our partners profitable in the long run”
At Emballator, long-term thinking drives sustainability. Ulrika Andersson, HR Manager, sees the company’s Green Bag values as the foundation for responsible growth, guiding decisions that benefit customers, communities, and employees alike.
The sustainability conversation at Emballator often begins with the Green Bag. For Ulrika Andersson, HR Manager for Emballator, this is no coincidence. “Our sustainability work stems entirely from our value platform,” she says. “The Green Bag describes how we should act in every decision we make within the group. It guides our long-term thinking and forms the basis for our Code of Conduct.”
A value platform that drives responsible growth
In practice, the Green Bag is Emballator’s most important instrument for maintaining a sustainable business. Its cornerstones: customer focus, employees, profitability and society, shape decisions at every level. Two of them, longterm and society, are especially central to sustainability. “They help us stay grounded,” Ulrika explains. “They remind us that short-term gains can never outweigh long-term responsibility.”
This perspective influences everything from how Emballator reduces its climate footprint to how teams develop more resource-efficient packaging solutions. “In our industry, there are plenty of opportunities to take shortcuts,” she says. “But that’s not Emballator. We know that both we and our customers benefit from keeping the long view in mind. It’s what keeps us and our partners profitable in the long run.”
Supporting the communities around us
Sustainability also shapes how the company engages with the communities around its sites. “We feel a real responsibility to contribute to long-term wellbeing in the places where we operate,” Ulrika says. “Just as our packaging affects society, so does our presence as an employer.”
This social responsibility takes many forms: sponsoring local sports teams, supporting educational initiatives such as mathematics programmes, and building long-term partnerships with schools and community organisations. “We want to be an integral part of the community,” she adds. “Whether it’s in Ulricehamn, Lempäälä or Bradford.”
Long-term ambition across climate, people and innovation
Ulrika sees the same long-term mindset behind Emballator’s climate ambitions and its commitment to investing in people and innovation. “We set ambitious goals when few others do” she says. “We continuously invest in competence, in our communities, and in developing smarter, less resource-dependent packaging.”
“When the Green Bag guides behaviour,” Ulrika concludes, “long-term thinking with a strong innovation mindset becomes a natural part of how we run the business.”
