Meet Markus Porath – Product Manager Shaping Development at Emballator in Mellerud
Markus Porath plays a key role at Emballator, responsible for our product range and the ongoing development of new and existing solutions. With a strong interest in innovation and a close connection to his local community, he is an important part of our work in Mellerud.
A role built on curiosity and collaboration
Markus’s days are varied. He leads product projects, follows market trends and tracks new ideas and technologies. He also coordinates updates to existing products and regularly meets customers and suppliers to understand their needs. This hands‑on approach helps Emballator stay practical, relevant and prepared for future developments.
“Working on everything from the first wild idea to having a new finished product for the market is the most enjoyable part of my job,” Markus says. His enthusiasm for the process brings energy to the team.
Development shaped by changing materials
Since joining Emballator in 2017, Markus’s role has evolved alongside rapid developments in material technology. “Recycled material didn’t exist when I started,” he explains. One of his proudest projects is the introduction of recycled material in Essity’s soap bottle—a challenge made even greater by the bottle’s unique design.
This type of work highlights the importance of practical problem‑solving and long‑term thinking in product development.
Values rooted in community
Markus is strongly committed to Emballator’s values, especially those linked to local responsibility. “Herenco’s companies are, through our customers and employees, a part of the local community where we operate,” he says. “We should actively take responsibility for contributing to positive community development by creating jobs and growth, but also in the form of support for local associations and culture.”
Outside work, Markus enjoys an active lifestyle. He cycles, plays padel, runs, and dreams of one day completing an Ironman. He also hopes to travel more in Europe. “I have a small bucket list,” he says with a smile.
Looking ahead
Markus sees a stable future for Emballator and the products he works with. “It is a stable market. Blow‑moulded products will remain in the future,” he says. For those interested in a similar career, he recommends a genuine interest in technology, an understanding of different colleagues and perspectives, and experience across several industries.
