Meet Mikael Svensson – Production Leader at Emballator in Ulricehamn
Mikael Svensson leads production in the can department in Ulricehamn. His journey from operator to production leader reflects both his commitment and his desire to grow within the company.
As production leader, Mikael is responsible for organising and guiding the daily work in his team. Much of his focus is on maintaining and improving the work environment while keeping production running efficiently. He highlights the value of developing staff—through individual conversations and ongoing improvement work—to ensure the team reaches its goals. His role is essential in making sure Emballator delivers the right quality at the right time.
“The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to develop and grow within the company and to work with great colleagues,” says Mikael.
A career built step by step
Mikael joined Emballator at the age of 23 as an operator. A few years later, he became a coordinator, gaining deeper insight into the business. That experience led to a team leader role, and eventually to his current position as production leader, where he now leads around 40 employees.
One achievement he is particularly proud of is the shift from manual handling of packing to an automated system—an improvement that has benefited both productivity and the work environment.
Leadership that puts people first
Mikael is committed to developing his leadership skills and sees the importance of understanding and supporting the human side of production. His goal is to create a safe, engaged workplace while continuing to grow in HR and production leadership.
For those interested in becoming a production leader, Mikael’s advice is clear: focus on communication, build leadership skills, stay solution‑oriented and be open to improvement and change.
Life outside work
Mikael grew up in Blidsberg, around 20 kilometres from Ulricehamn, and moved to the town at 17. Today, he lives there with his wife and their two children. He studied the industrial programme in high school, which led him to early roles in the plastics industry before joining Emballator.
Outside work, family and friends are central. He also has a strong interest in music—he plays guitar and performs in a cover band. He enjoys staying active and often has a home project underway. One of his dreams is to own a summer house on Öland or the west coast, places he loves visiting.
