Our long‑term work for more sustainable packaging

At Emballator, long‑term thinking guides every decision we make. Caring for the environment is a natural part of this. Our vision — to develop packaging solutions for future generations — means addressing the areas where we have the greatest impact. The largest share of our climate footprint comes from greenhouse gas emissions linked to our operations, our material use and the transport of goods.

Clear climate goals

We have set two long‑term goals that steer our work:

  • Climate neutrality throughout the value chain by 2045
  • Halving our climate footprint per revenue by 2030, compared with 2021

Reaching these goals requires steady progress, practical solutions and close collaboration across the value chain. Five focus areas guide our work.

1. Reducing emissions from plastics

Plastics contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, and reducing that impact is a key priority. We work with recycled and biobased materials, use material more efficiently and make sure all our packaging is designed for recyclability.

2. Reducing emissions from metals

Metal production also has a significant climate impact. By improving material efficiency and increasing the share of recycled aluminium, we can reduce emissions while maintaining the strength and reliability our customers expect.

3. Improving energy efficiency and producing climate‑neutral energy

We continue to increase energy efficiency across all sites — from upgrading machinery to streamlining production processes. We also invest in renewable energy where possible, supporting a cleaner and more resilient energy mix.

4. Achieving net zero emissions from transport

Transport is a major emission source. Our aim is net‑zero transport emissions by 2030, supported by smarter logistics, optimised shipments, renewable fuels and, where suitable, a shift to electric vehicles.

5. Creating circular material loops

A circular approach is essential for long‑term sustainability. We work to enable systems where packaging can be recycled back into similar products. One example is our Pail to Pail initiative, where new pails are produced from post‑consumer recycled pails.

By focusing on these areas, we aim to reduce our climate impact while continuing to deliver safe, reliable and resource‑efficient packaging. Our commitment is long‑term, practical and centred on solutions that make a real difference — today and for future generations.
