Students from the Natural Science Programme Visit Emballator’s Innovation Center

Emballator’s Innovation Center was pleased to welcome second‑year students from the Natural Science Programme, together with their teacher Anna‑Sara Roos. This is the third year in a row that the group has visited, and it is always a highlight. The visit focuses on chemistry and plastics—topics that Christian Olsson, Material Specialist at Emballator, presents and explores with the students.

Christian introduced different types of plastics and compared their structures and properties. He also spoke about bio‑based plastics, a subject that always sparks interest. The students then toured the Innovation Center’s laboratory, where they learned how advanced instruments are used for thermal, chemical and mechanical analyses.

With the equipment in the Innovation Center, plastics can be identified and contaminants measured—for example in recycled materials. The tools also make it possible to verify processability and assess resistance to chemicals, oils and oxygen.

“This year, I felt that the students asked a lot of good questions—good enough that I had to think a bit before answering,” Christian says with a smile.

Over the years, two students have completed their school projects with us, and we hope to welcome more. We look forward to meeting next year’s class and continuing this valuable collaboration.
