Welcome Torbjörn Persson – our new Procurement Manager at Emballator Packaging Innovations

Torbjörn’s connection to Emballator goes back more than a decade, and his first month inside the organisation has only reinforced the impression he formed years ago—a well‑run company with strong expertise and a welcoming atmosphere. In his new role, he works across Emballator Packaging Innovations to strengthen material choices, especially around plastic and recycled plastics, while also supporting local companies in procurement and building a unified purchasing methodology together with teams in Ulricehamn and Bradford.

What are your first impressions of Emballator?

“My first impressions actually go back quite a bit. I worked for many years with the procurement of plastic packaging and got to know Emballator around ten years ago. I’ve always seen Emballator as a well‑run company with a high level of expertise—and that has been confirmed during my first month here. I’ve felt very welcome and the start has been really positive.”

What is your primary role?

“I’ll be working across the companies within Emballator Packaging Innovations, focusing on finding even better material solutions—especially when it comes to plastic and recycled plastic. We need to make sure we stay cost‑effective and well‑equipped for the future from a sustainability perspective.

I will also support local companies with procurement processes and various projects. In addition, I will work closely with the teams in Ulricehamn and Bradford to build a strong purchasing methodology for the whole Emballator organisation.”

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

“I’m an engineer and started my career in sales within the transport industry. After ten years I changed direction and joined Orkla, where I worked in several procurement roles focused on rigid plastic packaging. For the past two years, I’ve worked with procurement of logistics services at Sandvik SRP.”

How would you describe yourself?

“I’d say I’m a positive and curious person.”

Our values are important to us. Which one or ones do you carry with you in your work?

“Personal commitment is important to me—you need to feel connected to what you do and take pride in your contribution. I also feel strongly about Community and Customer Focus. I’m especially drawn to the clear link between the company and society. It feels very good.”

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

“I spend quite a lot of time on football pitches. I’ve been a coach for my oldest son’s team and now for my younger son’s team as well. Otherwise, I like spending time with my family, doing a bit of gardening and travelling when the opportunity comes up.”
